Google Sign-In

If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. We do not access your Google contacts, calendar, or any other Google services.

Learning Data

As you use LingoLearn, we collect and store:

• Language preferences — which languages you are learning (e.g., German, Spanish, French).
• CEFR proficiency level — your assessed language level (A1–C2).
• Vocabulary progress — words you have studied, your spaced repetition state (Unseen, Learning, Known, Mastered), accuracy, and review history.
• Grammar progress — grammar rules you have studied and your mastery level.
• Assignment scores — scores and completion status for class assignments.
• Onboarding status — whether you have completed the initial assessment.

Usage Data

• Last active timestamp — when you last used the platform.
• Theme preference — your chosen visual theme (default or dark).
• Session data — session tokens used to keep you logged in.

Optional Data

• Custom LLM configuration — if you provide your own AI model endpoint and API key, these are stored to enable personalized lesson generation. Your API key is stored server-side and is not shared.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the LingoLearn platform.
• Authenticate your identity and manage your account.
• Generate AI-powered lessons tailored to your proficiency level.
• Track your learning progress across vocabulary and grammar.
• Enable classroom features, including classes, assignments, and teacher-student interactions.
• Improve and optimize the platform's performance and user experience.
• Communicate with you about your account or important updates.

3. AI-Powered Features

LingoLearn uses artificial intelligence to generate lessons, grade answers, and provide feedback. Your lesson responses may be processed by AI models to deliver real-time corrections and explanations. We do not use your personal data to train AI models.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share limited data in the following circumstances:

• Classroom context — if you join a class, your teacher may see your username, assignment scores, and progress within that class.
• Service providers — we use third-party services (e.g., Google OAuth, database hosting) that process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality agreements.
• Legal requirements — we may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or legal process.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:

• Passwords are hashed using bcrypt before storage.
• Sessions are managed with secure, unique tokens.
• Database access is restricted and encrypted in transit.
• OAuth tokens are stored securely and scoped to minimum necessary permissions.

While we strive to protect your information, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data and learning progress for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data and associated learning records will be permanently removed from our systems. Some anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for platform analytics.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data stored on LingoLearn.
• Correct inaccurate information in your profile.
• Delete your account and all associated data.
• Export your learning data upon request.
• Withdraw consent for optional data processing at any time.

LingoLearn is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
